WHAT IS HAPPINESS AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?

Happiness origins from the Greek concept of ‘Eudaimonia’ meaning welfare and human flourishing. It was defined and widely discussed already among the Greek philosophers Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus and The Stoics around +/- 300 – 240 BC.

Aristotle wrote that everyone agreed on ‘Eudaimonia’ is the highest good for human beings, but there was substantial disagreement on what sort of life counts for doing happiness well. Some resonated for virtue, but for Epicurus, the purpose of philosophy was to attain the happy, tranquil life, characterized by peace and freedom from fear and the absence of pain and by living a self-sufficient life, surrounded by friends.

The concept was not only discussed back then, but also today many wise people have analysed and interpreted and as described in the Modern Moral Philosophy and Modern psychology through decades, happiness is defined as “a mental or emotional state of well-being, which can be defined by a range of positive or pleasant emotions, ranging from contentment to intense joy”.

Mostly we for sure get the experience of happiness when we fall in love, we get a little crazy and everything seems light and very easy. The opposite of happiness we experience when we fall out of love, which can be very unpleasant and if lasting too long, you could define it as a depression.

For me happiness mostly is the feeling of joy that appears in small glimpses other times for several hours or days. It feels like having butterflies in your stomach, having a tendency to be in a good mood with smiles and laughs. Other times It is a state of being in ease, where there is a flow of nice and calm situations and the experience is that challenges get solved easily and so forth.

For me to remain in happiness, it requires my abilities to focus on the positive, remain unaffected of anything and have no disturbing opinions or any need for being in control over others. An awareness I have been training to practice for years. Simple but not easy.

There are many things to learn and understand, when you start realising that the biochemistry within our bodies, are created not only from what we digest, but also from outside as well from our thoughts.

How we create and keep the balance is actually a full time work – we just seem to have forgotten how important it is. Health, wealth and happiness have probably been subjects for discussions for more than five thousand years. For me it is daily in my mind, as I have realised how essential this is not only to me, but to every human being on this planet. The concept of “change your thoughts and you change your life” is for real.

So how would you describe your happiness? Are you satisfied with the balance in your life or are you ready to evolve your awareness and grow personally?

We hope to give some inspiration and motivation for  the design of your life, whatever the reason could be for you.

The best of Health, Wealth and Happiness
